Writing

I’ve been writing and presenting historical content for TV and film since 2021, when my first short documentary was nominated for the Women in Adventure award at the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.

Alongside my work as an Interpretation Producer at the Ashmolean Museum, where I write labels for the free displays in the permanent galleries, audioguides, and film scripts, I’ve written scripts for comedian Adam Buxton, actor Greg Wise and broadcasters Amber Butchart, Janina Ramirez and CBBC’s Dr Ronx.

I also write history articles for wider audiences. My articles regularly appear in members’ magazines such as Pinnacle (Churches Conservation Trust), Countryfile, the National Trust Magazine, and the Ashmolean Magazine. I also contribute to academic conversations, presenting research papers on nineteenth-century women’s history at seminars and conferences, including at the Institute of Historical Research.

You can find recordings of my talks and seminars through MuseumNext, Fireside Chat, Collecting & Display, the Society for the History of Collecting, the French Porcelain Society, and the Institute of Historical Research. I’ve also presented online content for the Churches Conservation Trust and the Cornwall Maritime Churches Project, as well as a recorded lecture on Facebook.

My writing can be found in a variety of places, including Waddesdon’s blog, Countryfile, The Curious Art Historian, and the Cornwall Maritime Churches Project. I’ve also contributed to research outputs such as Tintagel and the picturesque ideal (watch here) and the Kresen Kernow archive.

My work is also referenced in wider scholarship, including Planet Magazine and the Kresen Kernow archive.
